I cannot believe I hadn't recced this before, because it's really amazing and definitely one of my favourites.

It's an AU after Order of the Phoenix, in which Draco is a spy for the Order and starts training with Snape for when the time comes. It's not linear, because the story starts when the war is over and won and Draco's facing Lucius's death.

It has different POVs, and all brilliant. We got to see the development of Dean and Draco's friendship after the war (Dean is so, so awesome! But so is Seamus!), after Draco saved Dean and Seamus, we get Draco's POV and even Snape's POV. It's very complex and rich in characterisations.

The heart of it is, we learn that back when Harry and Draco were at Hogwarts, before the war broke, Lucius cast a spell on Harry that would trigger after his death. This spell would make Harry every evening to insult and abuse his friends (verbally) until exhaustion, and if left alone he'd be a danger to himself. Draco witnessed Lucius casting the spell, but during the war, and even after the war, dealing with the Ministry and the aftermath - because even though he was cleared as an ally of the Light, people still don't trust a Malfoy - he forgot, and it’s not until Dean mentions Harry's having a hard that he remembers, sees the effect of Lucius's curse first hand, and he's faced with a choice. He could break the spell, but he could also lose everything, for to break the spell he needs to make a Vow of Silence.

It's fantastic, this fic. The way Draco is there for Harry through these 'cursed' evenings, the way he see the story (past and present) unfold, the way Draco changes with time, friendships made, and Harry's growing need for Draco, it's all so very good, man! Read it if you haven't, and you know, if have, read it again because it's truly brilliant. :D

Title: Not Through With You

I mentioned Snowgall how memory loss is one of my favourite tropes, and she shared several links with me. This is one of those stories, and it was wonderful.

This story is an AU in the sense that it takes place during the war, and Draco is a spy for the Order.

When it's time to report after a mission from the Dark Lord, he goes to Grimmauld Place and stays for a few days. Only this time he starts having visions and dreams about him and Harry being together, so he tries to avoid Harry, Harry who is a bit unavoidable, actually.

We soon learn that these visions and dreams he's been having might be more. It's wonderful, how hard this is for Draco, how lonely he is and how he uses insults as defense mechanism. It's very hot, and the ending is surprisingly sweet.

This fic is bottom!Harry, but there's very mild imply switching, though nothing on-screen.

Title: Chaos Theory

One gene varies, one neuron fires, one butterfly flaps its wings, and Draco Malfoy's life is completely different. Draco has always found a certain comfort in chaos. Perhaps he shouldn't.

This story is so, so amazing.

It's AU, Ravenclaw!Draco, genius!Draco (and if you're anything like me, you're going to fall in love with him and his mind), in which he changes history as we know it when in first year it's him two ventures past the locked door in the third floor. He meets Harry, but even before he realises he's met him, he feels such a fierce protectiveness towards Harry, which is amazing.

Harry becomes Draco's first friend, and seeing this happening; their friendship turning into something so much more it's so sweet and so lovely. There are all these beautiful moments, there's UST but it's so much more than that, it's about love, you know?

There's mentor!Snape (to both Harry and Draco), but there's also danger coming, because Voldemort is coming back, that's no different, in fact, it's more terrible than ever.

I'm going to cut here in case you want to read it without knowing a little more.

Draco does incredible things to protect Harry, and it's while trying to save him that he's trapped and tortured when he takes Harry's place in the Thrid Task in the Triwizard Tournament.

I know some of these tags and warnings [in the fic] can be scary, but it's such a great story. Something to note is that the ~scary part~ doesn't begin until roughly half the story, and when it's about to start, you're warned, and if you want to skip it, the author has written a guide of what happens during the harder-to-read chapters and tells you in which chapter you can keep reading without having missed anything relevant to the plot, however, after having read it, I can tell you that the gory parts, the torture parts, aren't really that long, as in, while Draco spends part of the time under the Imperius, the graphic descriptions of the torture (and all he's forced to do) doesn't expand to the rest of the story, only a few chapters.

It's really a story of love and sacrifices, at times it's hard to read (previously mentioned) but the ending is so beautiful, it's worth it. Brilliant.

Title: It Started in the Shower Series

This series starts as one hot (smoking hot) PWP and then it becomes so much more. Oh, so much more!

The story starts with Harry (and Ron and Hermione) on the run, hiding at Gimmauld Place, which is where Harry finds Draco showering, and he simply can't resist him. He just can't. There's delicious smut, so much dirty talking! Actually, there's dirty talking all through the fic. :D

But like I said, it becomes so much more. Here, a spoiler tag, in case you just want to go ahead and be surprised.

Anyway! Things start turning serious because the effect Draco has on Harry is apparently not natural, but induced, and this effect is magnified by the Horcrux Harry has inside him. But there are many questions to be answered yet; is it only the Horcrux making Harry feel the way he feels about Draco? Is Draco affected in any way or does he simply yield to Harry by his own free will? What will Harry do when he learns all of this?


It's really exciting figuring all this, to see them go in this emotional ride while fighting a war. At times it's devastating for both of them, but it's pretty damn amazing, too, finding the answers, and hot, god, this fic is hot!

Title: And I Know the Spark

I love AUs, this a really great (and angsty!) Hogwarts Era Au, in which Harry and Draco got together in 6th year, until Draco decides to become a spy for the Order so he can protect Harry, only he does it without telling Harry because he knows Harry would stop him, and the only way Harry would leave him is hurt him badly. It happens though, and then when Harry is taken prisoner at Malfoy Manor is up to Draco to save him.

It's hurts, everything Draco goes through while he's trying to protect Harry, knowing Harry thinks the worst of him, it's painful, but it's got a great ending. Lovely story, full of pain, but there's hope, too.

Title: All Possible Worlds

I love stories that show you what could have been. In this story, Harry and Draco fall through a mirror that showes them seven different versions of what could have happened after Draco failed to kill Dumbledore. They live them, more than see them, though.

But it also shows what happened when they came out of the mirror.

Angsty and amazing.

Title: Remind You What You Did When You Wake

This is such a powerful story, one of those high-impact fics that stays with you for a long time.

Harry and Ron have been captured by Death Eaters, Lucius Malfoy chief among them. They torture and violate them, both mentally and physically, and Draco, he's there too, but he's a spy, yet, he is coerced into torturing Harry, but as he does this, he opens his mind to Harry, letting Harry know how much he hates doing this, how sorry he is.

Eventually though Harry and Ron escape and defeat Voldemort, and I know I'm rushing here, and you'll have to forgive me because this 'eventually' covers Draco and Snape playing a huge part of it, with Draco actively keeping them alive during their captivity. But even after all this happened, that connection of the mind that Draco opened for Harry didn't close, and so Harry and Draco are bonding in a way, Harry has complete access to Draco's every thought.

Now, that the war is over and won, you have to remember that Harry and Draco are both very damaged and traumatised by what they did and suffered, yet, they have this link, a kinship of sorts, and are living together, trying to live past what happened.

It's not easy, it's not easy with Draco's growing feelings for Harry, which he practically shouts at Harry constantly without even meaning to, his desire, his want, and Harry's reactions to them, because part of him, a huge part of him can't forget what happened while he was a prisoner of the Death Eaters, but an even bigger part of him wants to forgive Draco, too.

It's a great story, intense and powerful, and I know it comes with some pretty strong warnings, but if you only give this story a chance, you're not going to regret it. It's pretty amazing, this fic is.

Title: Angels and Devils

This is a very intense story, in which Draco is prisoner of the Order, Harry's to be specific.

Written from Draco's POV, it's gorgeous, because he get learn about Draco, the most significant moments that made him who he is, that marked him, we get to see Lucius as a father, beyond the Death Eater, and about the Pure Blood ideals behind their involvement with Voldemort.

We get to see Draco change, not drastically, he's kept IC through all the story, but he changes, too, not his views, he doesn't suddenly convert, but for Harry, because he saw Harry, too, the way Harry saw him. The quotes that go along the story fit it perfectly. It's a very intense read, a bit dark at the beginning, but if you give it a chance it'll amaze you, and the ending is lovely.

Title: Walking the Line

This story is widely known as one of the bests post HBP fics written, it's a classic, and with reason.

After the events of the Half Blood Prince and Draco is on the run with Snape, he's taken to the Order where he's given a mission by someone, who might or might not be Dumbledore (you'll see!), to trail Harry Potter.

So he does, and he becomes Harry invisible protector and companion while Harry's in hiding, trying to find the remaining Horcruxes. But while doing so, Harry and Draco start to correspond, and they begin to have feelings for each other.

The thing is, this story is filled with so many twists and turns that I am very reluctant to tell you more, because the fun is for you to discover and be surprised as they develop.

This story is super entertaining to read. Everything a long fic by this author promises to be; friendship, love, some lovely smut and a very interesting plot.

Title: Secrets

After several days with no recs I thought I'd bring you something to make it up for. I took this story with me to read while being away and it was the best story I could have chosen.

I've seen this story recced a lot, but I was a bit wary of it due to the length, but trust me, you needn't to be afraid to get your hands on this fic, it's super entertaining.

Even though it's a war fic, and it all happens in the summer after HBP you'll be surprised by how light it is (as opposed to dark and gloomy), and I don't mean it doesn't have a plot, it does, and it's amazing, to watch Harry finally take the place of active leader of the Light side. And it all starts with Draco showing up at the Dursleys with a child on his arms, and with this comes a series of secrets Harry has to keep, regarding Draco, then all of the Malfoys, Snape, the Horcruxes, and many more, but I can't stress enough how much fun you're going to have joining Harry in this journey.

Harry and Draco are great together, they come to understand and love each other like we all love to read, they still argue (it wouldn't be them if they didn't) but it's in a fond, full of love sort of way, and they become each other support. Draco becomes to person Harry finds solace when things are about to get too much, and he allows himself to be happy with him, and it's the same for Draco. They are protective of each other.

The issues and problems Harry and Harry and Draco face, these do not drag endlessly. I feel the need to state this because you might think the troubles they face might go on and on due to the length but they don't. It's like there's always a new adventure just about that they brave together.

The characters that are part of the story, Remus, Narcissa, Ron, Hermione, are lovely written. The person who recced me this story was in love with Fred and George on this fic and with reason because they are brilliant here, but to me, well, Snape stole my heart, as he becomes a mentor to Harry and honestly, even if you don't like Snape, I think he'll grow on you on this story. He grew on me, that's for sure.

It's fantastic, and no wonder it's a classic on this fandom, this ship. If you haven't read it because of the length, don't let it scare you, like I said, it's super entertaining and will fly by.

Title: Burns Out Another's Burning

This was the first story I read by this author, and I remember thinking how inventive and original it was. Of course, then I discovered the rest of her stories and I realised that inventive and original it's her thing.

This is a War Fic. But not a Voldemort fic. After the second war is over, Lucius awakens this entity, of sorts, called The Fire, which consumes everything and claims him, Lucius. And so The War of the Fire begins.

Draco is Harry's spy, and their relationship is very complex. They are fighting an enemy that has no body, and as Draco is second in command, the moment the Fire finally finishes consuming Lucius it will claim him next, so they are not just fighting the Fire, they are also fighting time.

This story, compared to some of this author's better-known fics, is a bit more quickly paced. I liked because there's this balance, as we learn about the nature of The Fire, we also learn about the nature of Harry and Draco's relationship. It's still one of my favourites stories by this writer.

Title: Longest Night

This story is one I never get tired of reading. It's beautiful and touching. From Draco's POV, it's a narration of Draco's thoughts and feelings, from the moment Harry leaves for battle to the moment of his return.

They pretend this is just another morning when Harry has to leave on an Order mission. The usual hug and kiss goodbye, except that this time, Draco grasps Harry's hand and finds it difficult to let go. It's the only weakness he allows himself. Holding on to Harry for just a few more moments before he turns and walks out the door.

It's achingly gorgeous and perfect in it's simplicity.

Title: Walking In Light

In which the power of love, truly do conquer all. I love this fic. Harry makes the ultimate sacrifice for Draco, and now it's Draco who has to save Harry. Lovely hurt/comfort story.
