Title: Life's Hidden Forces (can only be discovered by living) or at AO3
Author:
kabal42
Rating: R
Word Count: 17,600 Approx.
Summary: It is never easy to love or need - especially not when it hurts to do so.
Warning(s): Epilogue compliant, infidelity, polyamory, Dom/sub (non explicit)
This is an infidelity story, Harry has been seeing Draco for years, but now the time to come clean to Ginny has come. The problem is, he doesn't want to hurt Ginny, he cares for her, he really does, but he can't live without Draco.
Harry and Draco's relationship is a Dom/sub, but it's more than that, too. He loves Draco, and Harry will try to make Ginny understand why he can't leave him.
You might think it can't work, that it doesn't work that way, but you'll see in this story it does. It's more than just about the sex, it's about feelings and understanding, and having that someone that makes you feel alive. It's incredible.

Date: 2013-06-19 02:05 am (UTC)Is it weird that I have a massive love of infidelity... But throw in polyamory, and I am completely out? I don't know if it's my OTP flag or what, but it almost literally makes me cringe when HD genuinely love (loved even, depending on the extent, usually an obviously not meant to last past relationship is okay, but death, etc. *whimpers*) other people.
Which is a shame, because I definitely see why you recced it. It's hot and intimate and well-written. I just kind of desperately want to kick Ginny out, because she and Harry always have as much spark as a wet matchstick (even if I do usually buy duty and love between them, but being passionately in love... :/), and Draco and Harry in their needy love is perfection, and no Malfoy should ever settle or come second.
ARGH. Why must I be such an HD fangirl? Am I the only one?!

Date: 2013-06-19 12:22 pm (UTC)I understand you, I completely understand you! I like my Harry and Draco to be in love only with each other, and like you I understand that sort of duty love with their exes or even their current wives, and to be honest, polyamory isn't my thing either and I definitely had warned it on my own if I had thought of it, but I did find this story very lovely. As I read it, I found I didn't really mind where it was going, and more than that, because 'don't mind it' became oh 'hey, this works, I like it'.
It's never going to be my thing—never has been, I don't think. I do, too, tend to not like stories where Harry or Draco are genuinely in love with someone else while they are with each other (you know what I mean? Am I making sense???), I'm probably going to avoid it in the future even if I honestly loved this fic.
But yeah, this story worked for me regardless of the polyamory. But I will warn it in the future. I'm sorry it make you cringle! ^^; I shall add the warning right now, in fact.
