Summary: Draco’s parents are trying to force him to marry – just because of some stupid family curse – but Draco isn’t willing to settle for second best. After rejecting one suitor too many, he’s handfasted to a stinky and ragged minstrel and sent off without a Knut to his name.
This is a remix of King Thrushbeard and I admit I don't know very much about it, but this story, this story is a delight.
In the A/N, the author says, "I wanted, I realised, to focus on a humility without humiliation." And yes, they manage that perfectly.
At first we meet Draco bratty and spoiled, but after he's given to Henry the singer, he raises to the occasion, he learns about himself, and learns to enjoy life, the little thing, the joy of being part of something, of having someone who expects something from him, good things, and we see him falling in love with a hard-working man who brings the best in him. And the story, the changes, the discovering of who Henry truly is, are absolutely wonderful.
